1. Purpose and Scope

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) governs the manner in which Beijo ------ referred below as (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards personal and non-personal data obtained from individuals referred below as (“User,” “you,” or “your”) who download, access, or otherwise use the mobile application (“App”) made available by the Company on Google Play and any related platforms.

This Policy is an integral component of the App’s Terms of Service and shall be binding upon all Users. By installing, registering, or otherwise accessing the App, you expressly acknowledge that you have read, understood, and consented to the provisions set forth herein.

2. Categories of Data Collected

The Company may collect and process the following categories of information:

Personally Identifiable Information (PII):

Full name, contact details (telephone, email), identification documents, passwords, subscription records, and user account data.
Government-issued ID or license details if required for agent or company verification.
Payment information (such as bank account, mobile money, or card details) when you make transactions through the App.

Transactional Data:

Property listings, property searches, saved preferences, communications with agents, and inquiry records. images, videos, floor plans, and documents uploaded by agents, developers, or property owners.
Company or agency profile information for marketing and verification.

Technical and Device Information:Device identifiers, Internet Protocol (IP) address, operating system, browser type, application performance metrics, crash logs, and related diagnostic data.

Log data including device type, access times, and pages viewed.

Geo-location Data:

Precise or approximate geographic location, to provide relevant property searches.

Other Information:

Any data voluntarily submitted by Users in the course of utilizing services offered by the Company.
Data from payment processors, verification partners, and third-party APIs (e.g., mortgage providers, map services).

3. Legal Basis for Processing

The Company processes personal data only on lawful grounds, which include but are not limited to:

Performance of a contractual obligation between the Company and the User.
Compliance with statutory or regulatory obligations under applicable Ethiopian law and international standards.
Legitimate business interests pursued by the Company, including fraud prevention, service improvement, and system security.
Consent explicitly provided by the User.

4. Purposes of Processing

Data collected under this Policy shall be used exclusively for the following purposes:

Provision and facilitation of real estate brokerage and related services.
Create and administration of User accounts, subscriptions, and payment settlements.
Enable you to list, search, and interact with property listings.
Authentication, verification, for fraud prevention and compliance.
Enhancement of App functionality and User experience.

Dissemination of service updates, legal notices, and promotional communications, subject to opt-out rights.
Compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, or judicial requirements.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

The Company shall not sell, lease, or otherwise transfer personal data to unaffiliated third parties except under the following circumstances:

Service Providers: Disclosure to trusted contractors, property owners, vendors, cloud hosting, analytics, verification or affiliates engaged in processing activities on behalf of the Company, subject to strict confidentiality obligations.
Business Transactions: Disclosure in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of Company assets, subject to compliance with applicable data protection laws.
Legal Compliance: Disclosure as required by law, court order, regulatory directive, or governmental request.
With Real Estate Agents/Developers: To connect you with verified agents, agencies, and property developers.
With Financial Institutions: If you apply for mortgages, loans, or other financial services through the App.
In Business Transfers: If Beejwo Properties is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

6. Data Retention

Personal data shall be retained only for the period strictly necessary to fulfill the purposes identified in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by applicable law, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Upon expiration of the retention period, personal data shall be securely deleted, anonymized, or otherwise rendered irretrievable.

7. Data Storage and Security

The Company implements commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Company makes no representation or warranty that its security systems are infallible or immune to breaches. Users acknowledge that transmission of data over the internet entails inherent risks.

Information is stored securely using encrypted databases and industry-standard security measures.
Access is restricted to authorized personnel only.
While we take all reasonable steps to protect your data, no system is 100% secure. Users are encouraged to keep their account credentials private.

8. User Rights

Subject to applicable law, Users may exercise the following rights with respect to their personal data:

Right to access personal data held by the Company.
Right to request rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to request erasure (“right to be forgotten”) in accordance with legal conditions.
Right to restrict or object to specific data processing activities.
Right to withdraw consent, without prejudice to the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal.

All requests shall be submitted in writing to the contact address specified in Section 12.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to individuals under the age of eighteen (18). The Company does not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If the Company becomes aware that personal data from a minor has been inadvertently collected, such data shall be deleted without undue delay.

10. Third-Party Integrations

The App may incorporate or link to third-party services (including but not limited to payment gateways, telecommunications APIs, and cloud services). The Company disclaims responsibility for the data protection practices of such third parties. Users are advised to review the privacy policies of such entities before engaging with their services.

11. International Data Transfers

Data collected by the Company may be stored, processed, and transferred across national borders in jurisdictions that may not provide the same level of legal protection as the User’s home country. By using the App, you expressly consent to such transfers but we will take appropriate steps to ensure adequate protection of your information.

13. Amendments

The Company reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to amend or revise this Policy at any time. Any modification shall become effective upon publication within the App or on the Company’s official website. Continued use of the App after such publication shall constitute acknowledgment and acceptance of the revised Policy.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal

Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Any disputes arising under or in connection with this Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Ethiopia.
